Mrs. E. van Rooyen, Director of Education and Academy Principal, is a graduate of the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa with an Honours and a Masters Degrees in History. She has taught in all sectors of education: elementary, secondary and tertiary institutions both abroad and in Ontario. In addition, Mrs. Van Rooyen has earned a Special Education qualification from Brock University and a Junior Qualification as well as Principal Qualifications from York University.
Furthermore, Mrs. Van Rooyen brings to RMS a wealth of teaching and education management experience including her past seven years in senior positions at a private Montessori school. Her previous position was Vice-Principal, Elementary Division and Dean of Student Life, Secondary School Division.
Mrs. Van Rooyen believes in nurturing the whole child's education by emphasizing the quest for excellence, and self-knowledge. Deep set core values and community cooperation complete the education she wants to instil. Working in partnership with parents to promote a broad approach to education that promotes artistic, emotional, ethical, intellectual and physical development is her vision. Her mission is for RMS to play a leadership role in the community. Students study at RMS in a safe, respectful and supportive environment and with the staff she delivers this to the RMS community.
