Rowntree Montessori Schools challenges its students towards Academic Excellence. We welcome all student applications in spite of academic level and learning styles. We do not administer entrance exams, however the registration process involves an assessment of the student based on an interview with the student and his/her parents or guardians and the analysis of previous records. Acceptance will be finalized after interviews and possible other assessments. These initial assessments facilitate the individualized tailoring of the programme to meet the cognitive (learning, academic) needs of each child.

At Rowntree Montessori Schools, a student’s placement is based on an assessment of the stage of development and learning capabilities rather than solely on his/her age. The students are promoted from one level to the next whenever the outcome of the ongoing assessment shows that all the standards and objectives of the present level are met. The final decision is made in close consultation with the parents and is monitored by the Director of Education. This child-centered, individualized approach to evaluation and promotion makes full use of the child’s learning capabilities and leads to advanced academic performance and possible accelerated placement of a student.

Students in the pre-school and elementary sections are accepted into the program anytime throughout the year. We offer a flexible program and students who are 12 months and older may attend a 3-5 full days or half days per week at all the pre-school campuses. The Academy campus solely offers full day programs to students who are 3 years and older and who are fully toilet trained. All locations offer extended care (7:00am - 6:00pm) outside of the academic day (9:00am - 4:00pm).
